About Me

My photo
I am a lifelong fabric artist who loves bringing a home to life with quirky, unique and sumptuous pieces of textile art. I learnt my craft from sharing many a happy hour sewing with my talented mother. I particularly like collage, free-machining, needle-felting and creating home furnishings using a combination of machine and hand sewing. I love incorporating vintage and reclaimed fabrics, buttons, beads, jewellery and other items in my work to give them a second chance at being beautiful.

More felted sheep, meet the artist & WOYWW

Hello folks! Welcome to my weekly blog giving you a snapshot from my workdesk.

So here it is...

Most of what you can see is work in progress. My stockists all need more pictures so I've been furiously felting this week - sheep being the order of the day once again.

I'm also preparing for an exciting new development next week. On Monday I'll be holding a 'meet the maker' session at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre. The centre, in Craven Arms, currently stocks my work and has many visitors each day. Hopefully being able to see how I create the artwork on display will give added interest to the visitors.

Pop back next week to find out how it went!

Finally, eagle-eyed readers may have noticed a little addition to my workdesk. Last week I had a lovely surprise in the post from Diana Velvet Moth, a fellow artist and WOYWWer who I admire a lot. Diana has a real gift for colour, composition and combining media. I'm really chuffed to have a piece of her work to marvel at!

Well that's all for this week, I've lots of little felted sheep to bring to life while a certain toddler naps!

Happy crafting

Max x

  1. Thank you so much for your kind comments on my blog Maxine, I'm so glad you liked the little teabag! I am also pleased, but not surprised, that your pieces of art are in such demand, and the 'meet the artist' day sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun (and hopefully you'll sell a load more too!).
Hope you have a lovely week,

  2. Good luck on your Meet the Maker day - I love visiting things like that to see how 'pretty things' are made and it's lovely to be able to chat to 'makers'. Hope you have a great time!

So pleased to hear about your forthcoming visit where you are the featured artist. Good Luck - your mum must be so proud of you.
    Have a great week,

  4. Your felting is amazing. I was wondering if you would like to be my featured artisan next month on my blog. You get to tell a bit about yourself & your craft. include pictures of you & your work & if you sell on etsy/elsewhere you get to promote your site. Would love to have you. I had 2 featured artisans so far - in May & June ck it out, happy crafting donna #13 blog.papyrusamuse.com

  6. Max, love the stockpile on your desk! Your sheep are always the cutest to me, but I do love your flowers with beaded work! That being said, I'm loving some of those "newer" flower designs as well! I can't wait to hear all about your "meet the maker" event! I know it will be a success and I must say I am very envious of all those that get to actually meet the maker!! So, I will have to settle for your wonderful blog! :) Blessings to you! Felicia #50
