About Me

My photo
I am a lifelong fabric artist who loves bringing a home to life with quirky, unique and sumptuous pieces of textile art. I learnt my craft from sharing many a happy hour sewing with my talented mother. I particularly like collage, free-machining, needle-felting and creating home furnishings using a combination of machine and hand sewing. I love incorporating vintage and reclaimed fabrics, buttons, beads, jewellery and other items in my work to give them a second chance at being beautiful.

WOYWW - Needle felted daisies, sheep and mixed media explorations

Hello there! Welcome to my round up of my fabric art activities. Firstly, can I say Happy 7th What's on your Workdesk Wednesday!! For those who don't knnow, WOYWW is a weekly round up of artist's workdesks and has been running now for seven years!

Here's my workdesk this morning...

You can see a needle felted card I've just finished for a customer who wanted something a bit special for her daughter's wedding anniversary.

Also on the desk is a handful of sheepy sunset needle felted pictures, some sheep poppy fields and some bluebell and daisy pictures all ready to mount.

If you visited me last week you'd have seen I was preparing for a fair. Well it went brilliantly! The event had been organised to raise funds for the Harry Johnson Trust, a local children's cancer charity set up in memory of Harry, who died aged seven in 2014. The event included a Boden party and lots of lovely craft and gift stalls. Hopefully the brilliant turnout meant lots of funds were raised for the charity. Here was my stall...
After a busy week, what better way to relax than by participating in a workshop. On Saturday I spent a brilliant day on a mixed media course run by Tina Gilmore, mixed media artist at her studio in Montgomery. I learnt lots of new techniques and loved pouring over Tina's marvelous stash of vintage and antique papers and ephemera. I decided to make some pieces of artwork for Ben's bedroom. Here are the results...

Here's a snapshot of the process...

Ben certainly appreciated them and took no time at all in deciding where they should be displayed!
That's all this week folks! Thanks for stopping by. Catch up with other WOYWWers at Lunch Lady Jan's blog.

Happy crafting!

Max x

  1. Happy 7th WOYWW, lovely gal! I'm so pleased you joined in the desky madness because it means I can drool over your amazing creations. I love all your work but the sheepy ones call to me (must be my Welsh blood!) I'm so pleased that your stall went brilliantly and I love the artwork you made at the workshop, so clever. I love Montgomery, it's a funky little town...I think I went in the Indigo Moon shop last year!

  7. Hi Tilly, it warms my heart to see people working with textiles and your needle felting is brilliant. You asked about the name stamp but it's not a stamp I'm afraid, it's a watermark/transparent image. A friend made it for me and I know she did it using Craft Artist 2, hope that might help. Happy 7th woyww anniversary and have a great week, Angela x 30

  21. I would have been by sooner, but not long after I linked at Jan's, thunderstorms knocked my power out. To make matters worse, my internet is having a meltdown, and I have to reboot after nearly every person I visit. But I still hope to visit everyone this weekend.

Goodness. You make some simply GORGEOUS felted beauties. I'm super impressed, and love the one for the wedding gift. So nice when people pay you for your expertise, isn't it? Happy 7th Anniversary from # 5.
