About Me

My photo
I am a lifelong fabric artist who loves bringing a home to life with quirky, unique and sumptuous pieces of textile art. I learnt my craft from sharing many a happy hour sewing with my talented mother. I particularly like collage, free-machining, needle-felting and creating home furnishings using a combination of machine and hand sewing. I love incorporating vintage and reclaimed fabrics, buttons, beads, jewellery and other items in my work to give them a second chance at being beautiful.

Workshop Fun in Aston on Clun

Having been on a very VERY long sabbatical from blogging due to busy day job and becoming a new mum, I'm finally back for a WOYWW catch up!

I'm fresh from running a needle-felting workshop in Aston on Clun. I shared a happy day of felting and hand-embroidery with a lovely group of ladies from the Marches Embroiderer's Guild so I thought I'd share some of the photos from our work desk.

The theme for the workshop was 'Magical Gardens in Needle-felting and Hand-embroidery'. We started off by building some lovely textural background pieces with wool roving, wool curls, wool and silk. Then we worked over this with hand-embroidery before mounting in up-cycled frames.

I even did handouts!

So many lovely fibres to choose from

Hand-embroidered flowers

All busy at work

A beautiful selection of finished creations

Everyone finished the day with at least one finished and mounted picture

Hope you've enjoyed a peak at my work desk. I'll try to get round a few of yours in between feeding and entertaining Ben and getting some housework done!

Happy WOYWW :-)
