Today I'm going to share a few of the best bits from my workdesk this week. It's What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday so once you've read my blog, check out more WOYWWers sharing their work today at Julia's Stamping Ground.<br />
<br />
I've been working on lots of new designs and ideas to develop my work over the past few weeks. Here's my work desk today.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUchkZkpy1hFjvB8Uc_IWzH48IDp1evIifGcoQmFBQ4xrU_9RDshKc0P-XB1DZF3gIJSn-4Sze_oNdT8LIZfaA4t3NP6TWEhGi-x8PpcmjCqLY1Fxlgyn8lpLM-2v3_8-Zso75zc88Mvym/s1600/20170222_100952.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUchkZkpy1hFjvB8Uc_IWzH48IDp1evIifGcoQmFBQ4xrU_9RDshKc0P-XB1DZF3gIJSn-4Sze_oNdT8LIZfaA4t3NP6TWEhGi-x8PpcmjCqLY1Fxlgyn8lpLM-2v3_8-Zso75zc88Mvym/s320/20170222_100952.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Keen-eyed WOYWW readers might spot that this is actually Twiglet's (my mum's) workdesk - I've poached the desk while Benjamin has a nanny day. Im having a 'finishing off bits' kinda day today. By popular demand I've got chains to match my sheep pendants so I'll be spending the day stringing up a few ready to sell.<br />
<br />
So back to those new designs and ideas...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEFIWBwqIQ1Zxa15XP9qTILaQ_r0qriUkEkH74qpKysAWdsbs59UOFMz-7gsWoCoKFMWovXH-U5362HdmnM29A5S-e3O_IIb7Pk9wYgjGgoNstVd3X6iJnPHLF6BxNVv6cCS3rjaQuvlKX/s1600/20170218_093539.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="224" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEFIWBwqIQ1Zxa15XP9qTILaQ_r0qriUkEkH74qpKysAWdsbs59UOFMz-7gsWoCoKFMWovXH-U5362HdmnM29A5S-e3O_IIb7Pk9wYgjGgoNstVd3X6iJnPHLF6BxNVv6cCS3rjaQuvlKX/s320/20170218_093539.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
These violets are the outcome of my desire to use up each and every scrap of felt. Making sheep brooches and pendants results in lots of little trimmings, which I've saved. I dug out the purple and green shades to make this.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDAGZvAFGZbJKPW2adOIuqWwEQ2vXTEGt5Ip3SNHhwrRr9u_jWYki1zcEnAAMcdxNYA6Q6zjntU0BSpHXS35wqCtzENkt9_eGv1I2-SUz06P3McGJ7ds5JynTPn4hhu0Yg5fhviQ9oA1bs/s1600/20170216_101038.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="291" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDAGZvAFGZbJKPW2adOIuqWwEQ2vXTEGt5Ip3SNHhwrRr9u_jWYki1zcEnAAMcdxNYA6Q6zjntU0BSpHXS35wqCtzENkt9_eGv1I2-SUz06P3McGJ7ds5JynTPn4hhu0Yg5fhviQ9oA1bs/s320/20170216_101038.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Next up is a little beach scene...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtsXeT_PmIYhL2COPqmvNA8YSwMjZ50P4cjxVEGLCBrhuYdT59FX-kb_mL927w5y0VzrxXIJmxHK3p1Do9YjBDJunMQZUvfGjh1Pr0QIP5IGMCjYFFS1AvqYSmi4xdmnc-ekVuR0v-eJkA/s1600/20170218_160655.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtsXeT_PmIYhL2COPqmvNA8YSwMjZ50P4cjxVEGLCBrhuYdT59FX-kb_mL927w5y0VzrxXIJmxHK3p1Do9YjBDJunMQZUvfGjh1Pr0QIP5IGMCjYFFS1AvqYSmi4xdmnc-ekVuR0v-eJkA/s320/20170218_160655.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I actually make this a few months ago after a trip to the North Wales coast but it's sat in a drawer as I thought a coastal scene wasn't very 'Shropshire-ish' for my local stockists (Shropshire being a large landlocked county!). Anyway, I put it on Instagram and Twitter and people loved it so I'm now working on new designs to add to the seaside range.<br />
<br />
Finally I had some waste strips of wet felted and free motion embroidered landscape pieces which didn't make the cut in my sheep production process. I decided to use them as backgrounds for miniature flower/hedgerow scenes. Here they are, along with my latest sheepy landscapes. I don't know whether you can tell from my work, but I'm feeling Spring is on the way!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Thanks for stopping by my work desk. See you again soon I hope :-)<br />

<br />
After a bit of a hiatus in my blog writing I'm back. I can't promise I'll manage my previous weekly form but hopefully you'll be hearing my textile art musings more regularly at least.<br />
<br />
Today is What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday so here's a shot of my workdesk.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6b94g5L1P5HNmIfl767CSOfBqVaEZ5NrNRTmwy0r1OGh0iFn-7RvROuegex8gbN_5WES3WBEw5hM6DtDiLd9QzNXPE36DY0d3leB6L-L0lb7yKdEXo0pV0D4HkWPLKdlHxhnikXzawtI9/s1600/20170205_142839.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6b94g5L1P5HNmIfl767CSOfBqVaEZ5NrNRTmwy0r1OGh0iFn-7RvROuegex8gbN_5WES3WBEw5hM6DtDiLd9QzNXPE36DY0d3leB6L-L0lb7yKdEXo0pV0D4HkWPLKdlHxhnikXzawtI9/s320/20170205_142839.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
<br />
You can see I've got my Pfaff sewing machine out. It's a pretty old model these days. I learnt how to sew with it when I was a girl and acquired from my mum when she moved on to a new machine (or perhaps I borrowed it indefinitely and she ended up buying a new one...!)<br />
<br />
I've been free-machine embroidering poppies, bluebells and foxgloves. I've been busy over winter building up my stockist network so I'm now busy making sure I've plenty of work to keep them well stocked!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
There's been a bit of batch production on the go. Or should I say flock control...<br />

I'm linking up with What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday today - <a href="http://stamping-ground.blogspot.co.uk/2016/09/whats-on-your-workdesk-wednesday-382.html" target="_blank">click here</a> to meet more creative folk like me who join in weekly.<br />
<br />
So, I've no desk to show you this morning, it's just my lap as I'm stitching 'on the go' today.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD8mFRA9GW1C6yB19bfo9E4zAwjg_9qmLslrlAxYNzPTJnlavhB12Xh64jUGlsoliREtDK68JJnC572JQ5jfZILZzzZw6st3jLta2ZtfJzYN8L2wU-E96s1I0es3Al0lOcO_L4o3n8eUrt/s1600/20160928_102245.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD8mFRA9GW1C6yB19bfo9E4zAwjg_9qmLslrlAxYNzPTJnlavhB12Xh64jUGlsoliREtDK68JJnC572JQ5jfZILZzzZw6st3jLta2ZtfJzYN8L2wU-E96s1I0es3Al0lOcO_L4o3n8eUrt/s320/20160928_102245.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
These are a collection of brooches based on a special order I made for a customer earlier this month to match her wedding outfit. Here's what they'll look like when they're finished.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
So regular readers will note I've been a little tardy with my 'regular' updates. I've been busy with lots of demo days, working with new stockists and galleries, not to mention squeezing in a holiday and my little boy's 2nd birthday festivities!<br />
<br />
Here's a bit of a catch up from the last few weeks to bring you up to date with my activities...<br />
<br />
I ran four demo days at Acton Scott Working Farm in South Shropshire. I had a fabulous room and met lots of lovely people, including some very creative six year olds keen to try their hand at felting some sheep pictures...<br />

Welcome to my regular blog about my textile art, linking up with What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday, a weekly artists' showcase.<br />
<br />
I didn't post last week as we'd just got back from a mini break in Aberystwyth. More about that later.<br />
<br />
Here's my work desk this morning...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKzfqGnpzNgZyETJje_7HRJ4vEewQapkDI9-4gDcT3IjuEXtb-9xSVMb14Pgk3hr6jakFjjNitgAzDb486EDU43pNENHtzQ_pFL2M_IHv0bQbhaTY8bscOr6d5YSYOMUlQi11JUnhSSq8h/s1600/20160810_092825.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKzfqGnpzNgZyETJje_7HRJ4vEewQapkDI9-4gDcT3IjuEXtb-9xSVMb14Pgk3hr6jakFjjNitgAzDb486EDU43pNENHtzQ_pFL2M_IHv0bQbhaTY8bscOr6d5YSYOMUlQi11JUnhSSq8h/s320/20160810_092825.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
More needle felted and embroidered sheep brooches on the go this week. They've been popular online and I have been asked you stock a few shops so I'm increasing the size of my flock!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsQD5t9UQSGpxhaFi7N-Uq9vcrge5Ty0XLEgYMrdoVJHBXgpIR5KDaqL8eY-j7Mb-laZzo5tJXwqoED0g6mSQW7ijs1OR5SINhtGyqm1oHxPOzPX1no7Cs2AvjpGj_gFx3PlHRhPt7kJk0/s1600/20160810_092831.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsQD5t9UQSGpxhaFi7N-Uq9vcrge5Ty0XLEgYMrdoVJHBXgpIR5KDaqL8eY-j7Mb-laZzo5tJXwqoED0g6mSQW7ijs1OR5SINhtGyqm1oHxPOzPX1no7Cs2AvjpGj_gFx3PlHRhPt7kJk0/s320/20160810_092831.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm also working on some more background pieces to use in a series of needle felting demonstrations I'll be doing at Acton Scott Working Farm in the next few weeks. You might remember the farm from a BBC series 'Victorian Farm' a few years ago. More about that another week.<br />
<br />
So, to our mini break in Aberystwyth. We had a lovely little family break and I managed to find some inspiration while walking along the coastline.<br />
<br />
Look at the colours in these pebbles...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Here's are some wild flowers I found...<br />

Keen-eyed regulars will notice I've been absent from the regular 'What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday' circuit for the last fortnight. I've no excuse other than being snowed under with making and events. Poor excuse huh?!<br />
<br />
Well I'm hoping that my little wooly friends here will secure your forgiveness for my tardy blogging! I've been working on new design ideas and these are some of them...<br />

Welcome to my weekly blog about my journey as a textile artist.<br />
<br />
Let's begin by showing you my work desk...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH8GNUl4fNPOST241gjA1BA-sNhUow8GvaVY_8qDRHBUjMALSJb9KBCkPL5YtdD62tkyi66zicMqUi3JAHs5KgC2SK7A1E4TIl0hMsMgGBo0-8cymJYnm2S3lJcIYspfK-C48IT0JdO4jJ/s1600/20160706_095530.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH8GNUl4fNPOST241gjA1BA-sNhUow8GvaVY_8qDRHBUjMALSJb9KBCkPL5YtdD62tkyi66zicMqUi3JAHs5KgC2SK7A1E4TIl0hMsMgGBo0-8cymJYnm2S3lJcIYspfK-C48IT0JdO4jJ/s320/20160706_095530.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This time last week I was rushing off to get cracking with some wet felted background pieces. Once these had dried I needle felted strands of wool, silk and chiffon using my embellishing machine to create the background greenery for my pictures.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkujXffWjlVX5NYcJAlC8eZIO-51anfP6kjzSBwPSmgtUpwH2YGeSDuL76qtaN2Sg9wgmcHQM1ZBHxShx5i5BjfULLKP3-wMOh6DuldvrOyAZYEGvWV4dVzG3PwBk9PkxCecAubEmap4wt/s1600/20160630_155012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="197" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkujXffWjlVX5NYcJAlC8eZIO-51anfP6kjzSBwPSmgtUpwH2YGeSDuL76qtaN2Sg9wgmcHQM1ZBHxShx5i5BjfULLKP3-wMOh6DuldvrOyAZYEGvWV4dVzG3PwBk9PkxCecAubEmap4wt/s320/20160630_155012.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
As you can see, I've started to needle felt some flowers and today's job is to free-machine embroider on top and finish with beading and hand embroidery. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoDiYL3JBuYlXAISpdc5rXld_4EslJFK4XAslktXsoyErGxtbn-zCLky2L7n7SgVqr2q9meZkU747b-YcaMX15pENBp0BZOcKeq6udogmfycw3P1cb4CZZcxjCh62U0X7aZkEHjFa1MUu_/s1600/20160706_095750.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoDiYL3JBuYlXAISpdc5rXld_4EslJFK4XAslktXsoyErGxtbn-zCLky2L7n7SgVqr2q9meZkU747b-YcaMX15pENBp0BZOcKeq6udogmfycw3P1cb4CZZcxjCh62U0X7aZkEHjFa1MUu_/s320/20160706_095750.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Ive also been out and about the Shire this week, peddling my wares and getting inspiration from the wonderful landscape. This time of year the Shropshire countryside is incredibly diverse - from the lush greens I use in my needle-felted sheepy landscapes to softer shades of heather and corn yellow. On my way up to drop more pictures at <a href="http://www.bogcentre.co.uk/" target="_blank">The Bog Visitor Centre</a> the other day I noticed these lovely soft hay meadow shades and thought I'd have a dabble at incorporating them into my work...<br />

In amongst all my needle felting I've still made time to enjoy the simple pleasures in life - such as seeing my little man don his swimsuit and frolic about in Shrewsbury's brand new splash park!<br />

Thanks for dropping by to catch up on this week's activities from my work desk.<br />
<br />
So here's the work desk this morning...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWKZ1WJCVHroNfSR_o41_YYbbFmV75QqflQWR-O_n04zySRDazBu4prwERF8JA3oia1ofUApt7JGdkhsIz7PgoUuNs5BC1DItPz-Y2klWYzSjTx5isaa7KJnMRbZAKkzzJdEzHo5Y798UR/s1600/20160629_100452.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="202" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWKZ1WJCVHroNfSR_o41_YYbbFmV75QqflQWR-O_n04zySRDazBu4prwERF8JA3oia1ofUApt7JGdkhsIz7PgoUuNs5BC1DItPz-Y2klWYzSjTx5isaa7KJnMRbZAKkzzJdEzHo5Y798UR/s320/20160629_100452.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The 'works in progress' from last week are closer to completion. My stockists are asking for more pictures and I have a craft fair a week this Saturday so there'll be a flurry of felting for the rest of the week!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-iXR3fIWtnfElFy2kM5GH56GMO7MVDlngnqZ5gx0QybTcVTmHyzyZdioDJeWWOsN2Ii_ilMuPKGQ3RSJ-ZJ1Aj3ovRuV6qqeC6cYz8o7jDXo17uiXsY2qByVrUzjkLR65Pa-ZeD_K5Y7j/s1600/20160629_100540.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-iXR3fIWtnfElFy2kM5GH56GMO7MVDlngnqZ5gx0QybTcVTmHyzyZdioDJeWWOsN2Ii_ilMuPKGQ3RSJ-ZJ1Aj3ovRuV6qqeC6cYz8o7jDXo17uiXsY2qByVrUzjkLR65Pa-ZeD_K5Y7j/s320/20160629_100540.jpg" width="256" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm working on a development of my sheep felties using brightly dyed pre-felt.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilB9ONRzMopBeuED_n5iQyDi7NnOHENJf3Wo_GFjpOp65tLJDppGs07rQunJlX_uROn85kILNCNxYlKbhiLa5taPLYbrjrAS3kija0BZxmsY44Lz_wubMTZswydvztYsa2YhzTVxg_CixH/s1600/20160629_100125.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilB9ONRzMopBeuED_n5iQyDi7NnOHENJf3Wo_GFjpOp65tLJDppGs07rQunJlX_uROn85kILNCNxYlKbhiLa5taPLYbrjrAS3kija0BZxmsY44Lz_wubMTZswydvztYsa2YhzTVxg_CixH/s320/20160629_100125.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
If I ever get chance to work more on these sheepy ideas I'll share them on the blog!<br />
<br />
On Saturday I ran a workshop - Magical Gardens in Needle Felting & Embroidery - so spent the back end of last week preparing for that. The workshop went really well - another great bunch of participants who produced some really lovely pieces of work. Here's a snapshot of some of their masterpieces...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibD6vk-HpHrMJiCYh1QEdQfLMe-k9rTRKZ5nm1eY01cIC0ygfGiEIMICuzFQyLl_jCEItqPcPQQTEv1NOsVGqV1QYnHTM3hG9FZ9hzlqKr2WEQDVUJ4tskCK2Tg4-JINwwW4Vq6d9RbxSA/s1600/20160625_203759.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibD6vk-HpHrMJiCYh1QEdQfLMe-k9rTRKZ5nm1eY01cIC0ygfGiEIMICuzFQyLl_jCEItqPcPQQTEv1NOsVGqV1QYnHTM3hG9FZ9hzlqKr2WEQDVUJ4tskCK2Tg4-JINwwW4Vq6d9RbxSA/s400/20160625_203759.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>
<br />
One of the participants, Stephanie, wrote a really lovely <a href="http://www.buy-from.com/shropshire/blog/needlefelting-workshop-tilly-tea-dance/" target="_blank">review</a> of my workshop. Whilst the best proof of a successful workshop is always the work produced by the end, it's great to get positive feedback and I'm touched that someone took the time to write such a detailed review!<br />
<br />
On Sunday Ben had his friend's birthday party - the first in a series of 2nd birthday parties which will occupy every other weekend between now and the end of September! We went to a local farm for a picnic and a visit to the animals. Much fun was had feeding piglets, calves, sheep and even a peacock!<br />

WOYWWGood afternoon folks! Thanks for dropping by to catch up with the activities from my work desk this week.<br />
<br />
So here's the desk today...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNq1w01yU24iWD2bkmwx2vMTRvqyVljndixbm6aeMq1R6QJBM-7No8ydY9iFG-Td3ooMpH2lQpdLvNNUYGBg-axoPo6AMRf87kYjU015R9TNipUdJQ1ySuQH4SEjde6ZHOXYiTD57DGREz/s1600/20160622_125130.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNq1w01yU24iWD2bkmwx2vMTRvqyVljndixbm6aeMq1R6QJBM-7No8ydY9iFG-Td3ooMpH2lQpdLvNNUYGBg-axoPo6AMRf87kYjU015R9TNipUdJQ1ySuQH4SEjde6ZHOXYiTD57DGREz/s320/20160622_125130.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Regular visitors may recall that I love to felt poppies. So you can imagine my delight when I saw was my first little cluster of poppies this year. OK, so it was just on a roundabout on the ring road but it immediately prompted me to pull out the red fluff and needle felt some poppies.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9EJ7mD5IHSoJlmqQiUjJd38HRYJuvq9ok_CI8tE02uv7bbpQarbRiiI5YtaesBLWq5Ty7eWQD_INvE2B_fcKb_nXvrMU54Xiwwiy83faSvgFHu9rET8Z8yf7A5LLT1DBiGNHBp-aVy4ik/s1600/20160622_125229.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9EJ7mD5IHSoJlmqQiUjJd38HRYJuvq9ok_CI8tE02uv7bbpQarbRiiI5YtaesBLWq5Ty7eWQD_INvE2B_fcKb_nXvrMU54Xiwwiy83faSvgFHu9rET8Z8yf7A5LLT1DBiGNHBp-aVy4ik/s320/20160622_125229.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
These are a work in progress. I started with a wet felted background onto which I've felted a variety of green wool and other fibres to create a background. Onto this I've felted red blobs then free machine embroidered over the top to create more texture and detail. To this I'll be adding embroidered daisies and beading all the poppies to give them centres.<br />
<br />
Shropshire has some beautiful fields full of poppies so I shall be looking for opportunities to photograph them.<br />
<br />
On the subject of photos, here's one I took from my lounge window of the summer solstice sunset last night. Whatever was going on behind those trees must have been pretty spectacular - such gorgeous shades of pink, purple and blue.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8dOTVgU_bH9b4fYkC6r3G-P8KHmeIJwCV3pNXxO6eui8qdG6QHZKDwYWmS7_FJIy9MIz4D_jWtRjACAPuLdQ5rj918susBxV_dJhPQO6Yi3dSl8AnVHpfXppktYED5CzQyX0WRBqJUtg3/s1600/20160621_215655.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="186" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8dOTVgU_bH9b4fYkC6r3G-P8KHmeIJwCV3pNXxO6eui8qdG6QHZKDwYWmS7_FJIy9MIz4D_jWtRjACAPuLdQ5rj918susBxV_dJhPQO6Yi3dSl8AnVHpfXppktYED5CzQyX0WRBqJUtg3/s320/20160621_215655.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Visitors to last week's blog post will know I had a 'meet the maker' event planned at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre on Monday. The centre sells my pictures and the aim was to give visitors an insight into how my work is created. Here's my 'work desk on tour'...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZvnrg3OWU-XkM8O5u-TqFkdbX-AtjmMU6dojsF6iZ7TQVA8Bq8COgthJwufCyX7k2vZQRd8fjXDd7JVkvKEEoL0aVBT0zIsX_vpgoSzhox4audKQ-EtmvZ6f5pdd3UTf0XmPzgo-sFh5z/s1600/IMG_20160622_132745.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZvnrg3OWU-XkM8O5u-TqFkdbX-AtjmMU6dojsF6iZ7TQVA8Bq8COgthJwufCyX7k2vZQRd8fjXDd7JVkvKEEoL0aVBT0zIsX_vpgoSzhox4audKQ-EtmvZ6f5pdd3UTf0XmPzgo-sFh5z/s320/IMG_20160622_132745.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I had a lovely afternoon. Lots of people stopped to look at what I was doing and I had some great feedback about my work. I even did a demo for a group of 15 primary school children who were visiting the centre. Children ask the most interesting questions, don't you find?<br />
<br />
"How to you get red sheep wool... do they dye the sheep?"<br />
<br />
"How many times have you stabbed yourself with that needle Miss?"<br />
<br />
"Do you like my spiderman wellies?"<br />
<br />
All good fun and a few enquiries about WI and craft group talks so it was a worthwhile day.<br />
<br />
Anyway, that's all my news. I must dash as we've just bought a bicycle seat for Ben to ride on my hubby's bike and we want to take him for a spin before it rains (again!).<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by, I always really appreciate your comments.<br />
<br />
Happy crafting,<br />

Welcome to my weekly blog giving you a snapshot from my workdesk.<br />
<br />
So here it is...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjK1l6o9OY6AFbGcRMGLXIKPwdPvqjbhAktj_07OnaDb-kcQCpnLDOWEaJtuSvJijmfUmvQMa2MDwirA2uQrwhAZQHrNvxoi3pmlg1tRiwsQIROIpLkdI0jn-JVPHNKTPnSiVNGxPtDX_Bw/s1600/20160615_131802.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjK1l6o9OY6AFbGcRMGLXIKPwdPvqjbhAktj_07OnaDb-kcQCpnLDOWEaJtuSvJijmfUmvQMa2MDwirA2uQrwhAZQHrNvxoi3pmlg1tRiwsQIROIpLkdI0jn-JVPHNKTPnSiVNGxPtDX_Bw/s320/20160615_131802.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Most of what you can see is work in progress. My stockists all need more pictures so I've been furiously felting this week - sheep being the order of the day once again.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSb6y790-GzkQ-81OVrYF7yJC2WvfDQV9f8y20NR6NOD7eNgbXSC9eUJlTtAJFmeKdmQcVLRO0laveDnstaZ_faCYR1xyq12HodZoMESIXmqFTlO7MFs3XDPEQH_jWaBIr5GiqSyCkoNRE/s1600/20160615_131405.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSb6y790-GzkQ-81OVrYF7yJC2WvfDQV9f8y20NR6NOD7eNgbXSC9eUJlTtAJFmeKdmQcVLRO0laveDnstaZ_faCYR1xyq12HodZoMESIXmqFTlO7MFs3XDPEQH_jWaBIr5GiqSyCkoNRE/s320/20160615_131405.png" width="186" /></a></div>

<br />
I'm also preparing for an exciting new development next week. On Monday I'll be holding a 'meet the maker' session at <a href="http://www.shropshirehillsdiscoverycentre.co.uk/" target="_blank">Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre</a>. The centre, in Craven Arms, currently stocks my work and has many visitors each day. Hopefully being able to see how I create the artwork on display will give added interest to the visitors.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGcepu9BEBUa9b1sop8KnbX0Niwz0j-fd_LWIjMTarBra6o3tMsL_XLlqT0Ck4vwqfRTpuTyrQMEwuGPsHifZ76uuX00o7O5Xlm80ekWGphdx-bl70U42BOejPbCPvfciU1TP4H8VFeckk/s1600/20160613_195654.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="216" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGcepu9BEBUa9b1sop8KnbX0Niwz0j-fd_LWIjMTarBra6o3tMsL_XLlqT0Ck4vwqfRTpuTyrQMEwuGPsHifZ76uuX00o7O5Xlm80ekWGphdx-bl70U42BOejPbCPvfciU1TP4H8VFeckk/s320/20160613_195654.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Pop back next week to find out how it went!<br />
<br />
Finally, eagle-eyed readers may have noticed a little addition to my workdesk. Last week I had a lovely surprise in the post from <a href="http://velvetmothstudio.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Diana Velvet Moth</a>, a fellow artist and WOYWWer who I admire a lot. Diana has a real gift for colour, composition and combining media. I'm really chuffed to have a piece of her work to marvel at!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://velvetmothstudio.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxOIqRuV_iPD2aOv7hMIWTA5cyctsaIaG7jTqKVbC924VOH5QcTIWxJbDgJMxsSbsmkkei7eSuTDA8nyafF_gXO9MaFq1dvXyLNiCMfDqQIcS2TlqEIT9FLzsh0DK6N23NXcz4YTCPfRgF/s320/20160615_131535.png" width="231" /></a></div>
<br />
Well that's all for this week, I've lots of little felted sheep to bring to life while a certain toddler naps!<br />
<br />
Happy crafting<br />

The keen eyed regulars will have noted my absence last week - the inmates of Tilly Tea Dance Towers all came down with a bug.<br />
<br />
I'm back on form now though so here's my workdesk for you this morning...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjPbnWyCOxnj4vQyZFw7kGKThEXdfyuiopIiTNj0dp6Pp-WabCBf-Mft7VFklcZ77t4pKxPfNzpoqRNhZ8_K8s1Yd451gdQe9H1nWSIiqqrxwQD26paIRNonLFAJyBwKBjCF9A3rIQlOxb/s1600/20160608_095818.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="194" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjPbnWyCOxnj4vQyZFw7kGKThEXdfyuiopIiTNj0dp6Pp-WabCBf-Mft7VFklcZ77t4pKxPfNzpoqRNhZ8_K8s1Yd451gdQe9H1nWSIiqqrxwQD26paIRNonLFAJyBwKBjCF9A3rIQlOxb/s320/20160608_095818.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I'm trialling some new ideas again and this time I've moved away from my usual garden / hedgerow scenes to try something a little different.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlenAKN_9k8F7gnaapRvHg1fRM7nUHvAubSBseuZbbtXnYrPfNBKj3YBZ1sWvO3E584DQyf1eYKJ2lZS5siZb_xtRY7YcOUnG1yZThm04kFT1UiCSSXfOdITR3gOskqC3nbd1OK8Ma2yoH/s1600/20160608_095715.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="241" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlenAKN_9k8F7gnaapRvHg1fRM7nUHvAubSBseuZbbtXnYrPfNBKj3YBZ1sWvO3E584DQyf1eYKJ2lZS5siZb_xtRY7YcOUnG1yZThm04kFT1UiCSSXfOdITR3gOskqC3nbd1OK8Ma2yoH/s320/20160608_095715.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It's needle felting, but not as I know it (ok, the Star Trek script robbing ends there!)<br />
<br />
These have been assembled using cream and grey pre-felt, vintage lace, lilac wool roving and pale pink chiffon. These have been layered and felted down then hand embroidery, beads and buttons have been added on top.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1GEri4-VZppTef2EY4Qbvof0OtLwjvZbFu5Z1AQCZQUwKrkWDeIerzOzym1ymQi-4fWXyJc9kRTA7x2C95rrxQGiSzLv7LDJrDOZ6Cfyut2BXTou6n4-2hgz-V1631QEErbILopRlhAbH/s1600/20160608_100042.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="178" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1GEri4-VZppTef2EY4Qbvof0OtLwjvZbFu5Z1AQCZQUwKrkWDeIerzOzym1ymQi-4fWXyJc9kRTA7x2C95rrxQGiSzLv7LDJrDOZ6Cfyut2BXTou6n4-2hgz-V1631QEErbILopRlhAbH/s320/20160608_100042.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Not sure what they'll be - either tiny pictures or brooches.<br />
<br />
I guess I'm channeling inspiration from my newly redecorated sitting room, which is grey and lilac (and totally lovely - big thanks to <a href="http://twiglet5.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Twiglet</a> for shortening curtains and making blinds!). You can get an idea of the new decor in this photo of Benjamin's workdesk, a new addition to the sitting room. Perhaps he'll be joining in WOYWW one day soon!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Also on my workdesk are three fabulous ATCs I have received from the WOYWW anniversary swap. Thank you very much Kyla, Sandra Dee and Sylvia - your work is beautiful and each so different.<br />

Kyla also sent me some lovely crafty goodies which I will endeavour to use to create something pretty to share with you at a later date.<br />
<br />
I've really enjoyed the ATC swap this year and I'm determined to make a few more to swap next year (that's 358 days I've got to get my act together!)<br />

If you visited me last week you'd have seen I was preparing for a fair. Well it went brilliantly! The event had been organised to raise funds for the <a href="http://www.theharryjohnsontrust.co.uk/" target="_blank">Harry Johnson Trust</a>, a local children's cancer charity set up in memory of Harry, who died aged seven in 2014. The event included a Boden party and lots of lovely craft and gift stalls. Hopefully the brilliant turnout meant lots of funds were raised for the charity. Here was my stall...<br />

After a busy week, what better way to relax than by participating in a workshop. On Saturday I spent a brilliant day on a mixed media course run by <a href="http://www.indigomoon.co.uk/workshops/index.html" target="_blank">Tina Gilmore</a>, mixed media artist at her studio in Montgomery. I learnt lots of new techniques and loved pouring over Tina's marvelous stash of vintage and antique papers and ephemera. I decided to make some pieces of artwork for Ben's bedroom. Here are the results...</div>

Welcome to my weekly blog, a whistle-stop tour of my workdesk and my week's work. <br />
<br />
So here's my workdesk this morning...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggx_rXAcreGcXk0PA7zVScALSdPVPK2f-C5BeVmCuRgQnzAhUXsQThBalXdM1R6d7ITgq9OXyqOvztDoMsVHTNCpO3kDgOa5agiF_97VCXsIAV_3OON4OkwM_c8uYYi8EiqFqk1gLIK7-e/s1600/20160517_151038.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggx_rXAcreGcXk0PA7zVScALSdPVPK2f-C5BeVmCuRgQnzAhUXsQThBalXdM1R6d7ITgq9OXyqOvztDoMsVHTNCpO3kDgOa5agiF_97VCXsIAV_3OON4OkwM_c8uYYi8EiqFqk1gLIK7-e/s320/20160517_151038.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Ok, so it's actually the sofa today. I've got a stall at a local fair tomorrow so I'm frantically finishing off a few last bits and bobs. The workdesk is covered in boxes and bags to take with me.Today I'll be working on mounting these daisies which incorporate all my favourite processes - wet felting, needle felting, machine embroidery and hand embroidery.<br />
<br />
On that note - this week I completed a project I've been planning for a while. I often get asked about the various processes that go into my work so I decided to take a series of photos while I produced a piece. <a href="https://flipagram.com/f/pE02LNIj4P" target="_blank">Click here</a> to see how I take a pile of wool, fibres, silk and thread and turn it into this...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://flipagram.com/f/pE02LNIj4P" target="_blank"><img alt="https://flipagram.com/f/pE02LNIj4P" border="0" height="228" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfJLEAVxQa1FXWybxG1V3kkYw_W_hQH4Rp21DWEJdc0TCFUaqprv77Vb8JYiliHXjT2vYoDCYgM2weN93Fc0zFALFRSHqnwUj7kiFS31nB4PErK9gRO9YtIHs00BRgtlL7jet-lDA71ACk/s320/20160514_194701.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
When I wasn't preparing for the fair I was card making. A friend of mine is expecting twins so I made a quick little card for her baby shower at the weekend...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjpcJaYofptqs_FnNYPcow9vgonEywBGlOLUJuG_Gmooq9vRQ9ZLrl_6DpOfFc8XzJCee2mWxC_oY-GZ7ftBaapoAEYj9367JvNyU7En7-M1sx3wQ8x5RnUH8eR9wyKVA1gH0XYS7UY2cf/s1600/20160514_195337.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="257" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjpcJaYofptqs_FnNYPcow9vgonEywBGlOLUJuG_Gmooq9vRQ9ZLrl_6DpOfFc8XzJCee2mWxC_oY-GZ7ftBaapoAEYj9367JvNyU7En7-M1sx3wQ8x5RnUH8eR9wyKVA1gH0XYS7UY2cf/s320/20160514_195337.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Meanwhile, <i>my</i> not-so-little baby has been busy this week too, supervising his Grandad in the building of a garden step.<br />

<br />
Welcome to my regular ramble about the life of a textile artist. Here's a snap of my workdesk to mark 'What's on your Workdesk Wednesday' (WOYWW) a weekly global gathering of fab craftsfolk.<br />
<br />
Here's my workdesk today...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikQCqSni2hjFhERX1-9uQ2tyTW4fgzn03nLuu7A2xUbKslf2HcOaFDQhnKtv1RYcvMAyqedI1ktjWGikDRT9g3S53Io7UWjbmPuo8zSFYAEl8oxdIAPUz98Pdhte55IZq1lYWRMvXJW3z6/s1600/20160511_095336.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikQCqSni2hjFhERX1-9uQ2tyTW4fgzn03nLuu7A2xUbKslf2HcOaFDQhnKtv1RYcvMAyqedI1ktjWGikDRT9g3S53Io7UWjbmPuo8zSFYAEl8oxdIAPUz98Pdhte55IZq1lYWRMvXJW3z6/s400/20160511_095336.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm mounting and finishing some pieces of embroidery which I initially envisaged as bookmarks but having finished them I've decided they're destined for more than being tucked between the pages of a book.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrz1ee6_ONy86JJodfdSV_c6kHM5j67jIoYGngY9fBsJwsuqVKcG_CR8IXmRMN7y7OE98EnCeHlRFphneUUs-nbDWpp94f-TEUdtEbhdRwwq9YSoJD3Q7e7uYdYYHClycDyWYFLC3WvQ0z/s1600/20160511_100123.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrz1ee6_ONy86JJodfdSV_c6kHM5j67jIoYGngY9fBsJwsuqVKcG_CR8IXmRMN7y7OE98EnCeHlRFphneUUs-nbDWpp94f-TEUdtEbhdRwwq9YSoJD3Q7e7uYdYYHClycDyWYFLC3WvQ0z/s320/20160511_100123.png" width="219" /></a></div>
<br />
I've had a busy and productive week of needle felting to replenish my stocks at the three outlets selling my work in Shropshire. I started the week with a load of part-finished work and (thanks to lots of help from mum) finished the week with 35 framed pieces of work.<br />

<br />
Yesterday I drove round the county dropping work off so now I'm starting from scratch again!<br />
<br />
My little sheepy collages are proving popular so I made sure I made several of those.<br />

<br />
I made a few tiny sheep landscapes too, then found some great little frames in Ikea which fit them perfectly.<br />

When I dropped off my work yesterday I was told a touching story which I'd love to share with you.<br />
<br />
Two of my needle-felted poppy pictures sold at The Bog Visitors Centre, Stiperstones, last week. The lady who sold them was also there yesterday when I dropped of new stock and she told me this...<br />
<br />
A lady and her husband came into the Visitors Centre a few weeks ago and she really loved the needle-felted poppies. This weekend her husband returned to the Visitors Centre. Sadly, the lady had passed away. As she'd loved the picture so much, he bought it to remind him of her love of poppies. Later, her daughter had visited the centre to buy a different needle-felted poppy picture I had there.<br />
<br />
It's always great to here that people appreciate my work, but touching stories like this mean the world to me! I really hope those two pictures bring comfort at a time of sadness.<br />

On a cheerful note, it hasn't just been 'all work no play' this week. We've had lovely sunny weather in Shrewsbury so Ben and I got out and about in the local park. Every parent worries about shading their little ones from the sun so it was with great relief I discovered Ben wanted to be a 'cool dude' in both sunglasses and hat!<br />

Welcome to my blog, where I share a sneak peek of my desk to mark 'Whats on your Workdesk Wednesday'.<br />
<br />
So here's my workdesk this morning...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj42EocSf_y0K-IkUGzNSIcyaw4SiTRLlVj-79gpySrPRZ8snS9tlN9K1fVdv2Ia9HW9TZBOqYPD0rns0oh693szEZ_mux7_-GMxSM4K1wFZu3hI_DQ0gODavWVsj3DAebGWXP77Oaq2cnb/s1600/20160427_094932.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="245" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj42EocSf_y0K-IkUGzNSIcyaw4SiTRLlVj-79gpySrPRZ8snS9tlN9K1fVdv2Ia9HW9TZBOqYPD0rns0oh693szEZ_mux7_-GMxSM4K1wFZu3hI_DQ0gODavWVsj3DAebGWXP77Oaq2cnb/s400/20160427_094932.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
It's a busy old desk this week as I'm trying to fulfil a growing order book while also trying to fit in a dabble with the fabulous new fibres I picked up at Woolfest this weekend.<br />
<br />
"What's Woolfest?" I hear you say. Well, it's the nickname for Wonderwool Wales, a festival of Welsh wool and fibres held annually in Builth Wells. Mum and I took Ben along on Sunday and a brilliant day was had indeed. Three halls full of wool, silk, felt and fuzz provided a great opportunity to spend my birthday pennies and was a feast for a textile artist's eyes! Benjamin enjoyed his first encounter with rare breed sheep - Black Wensleydale and Blue Leicester I'm reliably informed - and some lovely angora rabbits.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Here are all the goodies I brought back...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh861ifc6sKHi7BpJWoefuwvbyH3teESGHuam86TA0AhvZcQFN-pB9ICVEaPhyphenhyphenUhHQpiAiVpqFFG3sRD66SKNeMQf_v1c393NOz6eKC2zdwuP4fOqKg3i0ux-B9nIYTFs8nuHKHK14I_6nP/s1600/20160424_160616.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh861ifc6sKHi7BpJWoefuwvbyH3teESGHuam86TA0AhvZcQFN-pB9ICVEaPhyphenhyphenUhHQpiAiVpqFFG3sRD66SKNeMQf_v1c393NOz6eKC2zdwuP4fOqKg3i0ux-B9nIYTFs8nuHKHK14I_6nP/s400/20160424_160616.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I'm very pleased with my haul and am looking forward to being able to find time to try out some new designs to incorporate some of it.<br />
<br />
Also this week I squeezed in another photography session, this time to turn some of my latest work into prints. Here are the ones I chose...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Well that's all for today folks, hope you've enjoyed hearing all about my week.<br />

<br />
Here it is; the desk today...<br />

<br />
There's a few bits for a commissioned piece I'm working on, a couple of finished pieces ready to mount and then loads of part-finished hand-embroidered bookmarks. I think I might need a finishing day! I also have a growing pile called 'not sure this idea worked' - attempts at new ideas which I really don't love. Does anyone else suffer with this when trying new ideas?<br />
<br />
My desk hasn't seen any action today, however, as it's my birthday and I was determined to get out there and enjoy the sunshine with my little man. We had lunch with mum (Twiglet) and when 'im indoors' got home from work we went out for tea at our favourite tapas place. There...no room for needlefelting today!<br />
<br />
But I have been a busy bee this week so can spare myself a day off. This week I've had a photo shoot for my pansy brooch project, which I am making into a step-by-step guide for my courses and an article for an online publication later in the year. I produced the brooch in real time while my in-house photographer (a.k.a Dad) took some brilliant close-up photos of each stage of the process.<br />

<br />
Apologies for my absence last week, I was snowed under. More about that later. You're here to see my workdesk aren't you. Here you go then...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigQinXahZVZUhziTWP2hClfk-7Aqg34psAyUW65MEkQrIZ2muUDe4TJbuhE36AWY0C5iVL9nsQ-9d3JShx0y2xRE6NgY8rYmkw5PnGuFwPtdVlp5CBdQ9bR78nIeN_ucBmxA5DT13L1n_H/s1600/20160406_093137.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="210" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigQinXahZVZUhziTWP2hClfk-7Aqg34psAyUW65MEkQrIZ2muUDe4TJbuhE36AWY0C5iVL9nsQ-9d3JShx0y2xRE6NgY8rYmkw5PnGuFwPtdVlp5CBdQ9bR78nIeN_ucBmxA5DT13L1n_H/s320/20160406_093137.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Among all the clobber on the desk you can see my nice pieces of wet felting from a few weeks ago and some linen with little needlefelted landscapes.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji2kA_bHRCogDVrx0KxzAXf3GBh11JYOGywEzzsxORUqY20me2ootm-HcSEtSXDTJe1WL3ytkpTrUw-DCsNN7ljk_37aJeTDYMc5Yv9yT9hAwH38hQZK-4MQzMtzin1BVLxkDlBfqV4dhl/s1600/20160406_093250.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji2kA_bHRCogDVrx0KxzAXf3GBh11JYOGywEzzsxORUqY20me2ootm-HcSEtSXDTJe1WL3ytkpTrUw-DCsNN7ljk_37aJeTDYMc5Yv9yT9hAwH38hQZK-4MQzMtzin1BVLxkDlBfqV4dhl/s320/20160406_093250.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I've been slowly working my way through the pieces of wet felting to create new designs. I'm guilty of being a bit hooked on the same designs, so for the last fortnight I've been trying out a few new ideas. Still within my comfort zone of fields, gardens and hedgerows but a bit different. Whadda ya think?<br />

<br />
This said, I've also had to step up production of my existing sheepy and floral designs by popular demand. My work is now in four shops and galleries and three of these contacted me last week to say my work was going...going...gone and could they have some more?! Chuffed to bits, I started dumfing away and this was how I spent most of last week. Here's the collection I pulled together...<br />

<br />
After all the hard work, Ben and I had a well-earned day off to see my friend and her lambs at the farm in mid Wales which was the original inspiration for my sheepy landscapes. We had a fab day!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
That's all for this week, thanks for reading. I hope to stop by a few desks later. If you're visiting here for the first time, hop on over to Julia's Stamping Ground to meet lots of other lovely artists and crafters!<br />
<br />
Happy crafting<br />

It's Wednesday once again, so time to share with you what's on my workdesk today.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYVPj_4zr-ZKx9yrg4ddVwP7kmto3SOlixhM_FFZv5TPxOdfl97SzsJtxuKCEU2J_AaSqB8gOYG6NXAmHggvU5nMSg8H0B4pFzjmWNjN43WQa1QrDpRV7Lx5AKGuLx0GO7gaFd4J9fQjKR/s1600/20160323_090305.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYVPj_4zr-ZKx9yrg4ddVwP7kmto3SOlixhM_FFZv5TPxOdfl97SzsJtxuKCEU2J_AaSqB8gOYG6NXAmHggvU5nMSg8H0B4pFzjmWNjN43WQa1QrDpRV7Lx5AKGuLx0GO7gaFd4J9fQjKR/s320/20160323_090305.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Yesterday I was a very busy bee and wet felted several pieces of background felt for my larger 'dumflings' (that's needlefelted pictures for the uninitiated!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKeNbInuKdmecYPyTAg-1v8SN7fIUqNUKf-3x0p__Srm536F0ybDJ4_FhdNPcYoeLIWoS5qFqOrfe7z3rzeNN3AoOKW1FvBcjZo48QzxXJh1L6wA6TGdyLiOXvqfN-VtFQT08IS9C5qi-Q/s1600/20160323_090357.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKeNbInuKdmecYPyTAg-1v8SN7fIUqNUKf-3x0p__Srm536F0ybDJ4_FhdNPcYoeLIWoS5qFqOrfe7z3rzeNN3AoOKW1FvBcjZo48QzxXJh1L6wA6TGdyLiOXvqfN-VtFQT08IS9C5qi-Q/s320/20160323_090357.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This supply of wet felted backgrounds should be enough for ten pictures, which I'll probably free-machine embroider.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNyudyRIIo0PHqFKYjBcDs2D-XG0z2JbVpbbvryi0t80vHasrLxujFL45gvB3V2OGrhsTcvuKc75ZooAkLDUvW1fW09Ro1e7zX3t_Kq-4H3QiqKnZ-NWK0dCPnUUpH86W2uJH34keAha1q/s1600/20160323_085710.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNyudyRIIo0PHqFKYjBcDs2D-XG0z2JbVpbbvryi0t80vHasrLxujFL45gvB3V2OGrhsTcvuKc75ZooAkLDUvW1fW09Ro1e7zX3t_Kq-4H3QiqKnZ-NWK0dCPnUUpH86W2uJH34keAha1q/s320/20160323_085710.png" width="217" /></a></div>
<br />
You can also see a peek of my large sheepy picture which I've been working on for several weeks now. Yesterday I free-machined the foreground and lightly felted some pinky purple detail to suggest foxgloves. I'm now at that dangerous stage where I may be tempted to add too much detail so I'm going to leave it for a while.<br />
<br />
Here are some of the fabulous pieces of work that the lovely ladies of Teme Valley Embroidery Guild produced on my workshop at the weekend.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJKWhrcn4TjCuDA_eDscHxabXVVLDL3FsETLD8xHpI0OzMZIbSCF0TggU8g3Ri9u580kgNCCwRZY70csC-1GmWrxHWmWCH2jzCKtESXshTbKlVEy25d9-tnpBqiZTLQPzhKBENdq9vPzA1/s1600/Collage+2016-03-19+19_17_42.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJKWhrcn4TjCuDA_eDscHxabXVVLDL3FsETLD8xHpI0OzMZIbSCF0TggU8g3Ri9u580kgNCCwRZY70csC-1GmWrxHWmWCH2jzCKtESXshTbKlVEy25d9-tnpBqiZTLQPzhKBENdq9vPzA1/s320/Collage+2016-03-19+19_17_42.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The Guild members gave me such a warm welcome and, with all their enthusiasm and skill, made the workshop a joy to run.<br />
<br />
I've got a bit of a breather now until my next workshop on 25 June so I'm working on some new pieces. I'm stocking four shops now so I am totally out of stock! On Monday I set up my pitch at the latest outlet - The Bog Visitors Centre by the Stiperstones - a beautiful rugged landscape in south Shropshire.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwLEWynSzW__yIycYdZ08e82oCmp2TLCydj1FLEoRsD3RTzWwDA-RL1QG8lXrJUl72iuQ4GyMviQtsvW4mY91PpzrI4IC9Y5PZBhGuEIKlbPj-bmefo6YA_GNa-9uHTok8dycPqyfg5ivl/s1600/Collage+2016-03-23+13_03_21.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwLEWynSzW__yIycYdZ08e82oCmp2TLCydj1FLEoRsD3RTzWwDA-RL1QG8lXrJUl72iuQ4GyMviQtsvW4mY91PpzrI4IC9Y5PZBhGuEIKlbPj-bmefo6YA_GNa-9uHTok8dycPqyfg5ivl/s320/Collage+2016-03-23+13_03_21.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Well that's all for today, I have a sleeping toddler so must make the most of the time and get cracking with these new background pieces.<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by,<br />
<br />
Happy crafting<br />

I'm afraid if you're a regular visitor to my page you're in for yet another instalment of needle-felted sheep! New visitors - welcome, hope you like my felted sheep!<br />
<br />

<br />
This week I'm mounting some of my small sheepy pics and also working on a much larger picture combining the sheepy landscape with my flowery fields.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUy8yhuH1ZV-esYc-LJvuf4eSUP25NLr6pNvtpWtQHlR2ViBz3a89komEjBsDRyiM1Rjn1bdSPP-UyDJOBWhlArcqem8znsJp-EwdRXweonRVYSt-nVWx3SnvhREmXdpeEMdYDZ8dI98KR/s1600/20160316_130616.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUy8yhuH1ZV-esYc-LJvuf4eSUP25NLr6pNvtpWtQHlR2ViBz3a89komEjBsDRyiM1Rjn1bdSPP-UyDJOBWhlArcqem8znsJp-EwdRXweonRVYSt-nVWx3SnvhREmXdpeEMdYDZ8dI98KR/s320/20160316_130616.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It's a work in progress but you get where I'm going with it, right?<br />
<br />
It's been a week of sheep for us this week. Monday's weather was fab so the boy and I went on a little walk with our mum and toddler friends. Ben thoroughly enjoyed seeing the sheep and lambs in the field as we followed the path down to a little stream.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGZqi4vWGqhRoOQZAP05DSxE7oGmtulj7OgP48_LBjonkKoH-ZF5_NTRK9Kmc5mZLeBUN7KJdKZZtMpT4DVGBdsRKPJWA3plzWGUu03ovZ1Vhc98Ei44uRVuiP4o6Epa-hIWwMf0Kj3hOj/s1600/Collage+2016-03-16+12_59_50.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGZqi4vWGqhRoOQZAP05DSxE7oGmtulj7OgP48_LBjonkKoH-ZF5_NTRK9Kmc5mZLeBUN7KJdKZZtMpT4DVGBdsRKPJWA3plzWGUu03ovZ1Vhc98Ei44uRVuiP4o6Epa-hIWwMf0Kj3hOj/s400/Collage+2016-03-16+12_59_50.jpg" width="246" /></a></div>
<br />
As I type, Ben is down for a little nap, but once His Lordship wakes we're off to our nearest National Trust property, Attingham Park, where you can see deer grazing. Maybe next time you drop by I might have been inspired to move on from felty sheep to felty deer pictures!<br />
<br />
That's all for me - got a workshop this weekend with TWELVE members of an Embroiderers Guild group (12...gulp!). They sound like a lovely bunch so I'm really looking forward to it but I've got lots to prepare to make sure they have a fab day!<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by,<br />
<br />
Happy crafting<br />

<br />
The desk is a little sparse today - I'm having one of those finishing off days where I try to finish some of the work I've been sidelining for other things.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTRgu2bTZxTJgJyFRozMloE2QaAPopIAECD1Ua8i4BMeakWf2aKyu1w0nT4la9Wq0f2-j_McCDQSAkN3wJpMgzA8K1KbhlKtULNIhUfblqi9_yzIvpFaxqqngCVuDSQ6uVwOQw3pG6k_xv/s1600/20160309_130726.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTRgu2bTZxTJgJyFRozMloE2QaAPopIAECD1Ua8i4BMeakWf2aKyu1w0nT4la9Wq0f2-j_McCDQSAkN3wJpMgzA8K1KbhlKtULNIhUfblqi9_yzIvpFaxqqngCVuDSQ6uVwOQw3pG6k_xv/s320/20160309_130726.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I've got some more little dumflings to mount onto cards and a pansy picture to frame.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
At the back of the desk you might be able to see Ben's first attempt with gel crayons. These are a much easier crayon for little fingers to draw with but unfortunately it has the consistency of lipstick so he's only allowed them when he's sat at the desk (I fear for my magnolia walls). I think his first attempt looks a little like a flower, but maybe that's just the artist in me hoping I've passed on some arty genes!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhT018XJEjBycQ2iiKACE_JNL-r__37XJ4ayASopgFZfU93K1XPiPH6lFbO560Htcqvqo5iguwkeH2q6hyphenhyphenuQayHApYLr42iCT1LCPAQupgsZZtZ5ue1GHavMlbJ1YLxg6iQOV7hF3_hYN86/s1600/20160309_131116.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhT018XJEjBycQ2iiKACE_JNL-r__37XJ4ayASopgFZfU93K1XPiPH6lFbO560Htcqvqo5iguwkeH2q6hyphenhyphenuQayHApYLr42iCT1LCPAQupgsZZtZ5ue1GHavMlbJ1YLxg6iQOV7hF3_hYN86/s320/20160309_131116.png" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
Anyway, last week I promised I'd share with you some photos from Saturday's workshop.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGPwQYfbOZoZSoIlC-57Q8cMmUJZiRuG-BBjKkkcBnn_v1Wbl2inRsdgqfQvdYHghiwV3iju2A0dmMWkcR8yyrRA-qetCTr4lKe9trI65INFv61OHeAQ7O6rX2o8aa20GJgs1V3_YdGONW/s1600/Collage+2016-03-05+21_00_37.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGPwQYfbOZoZSoIlC-57Q8cMmUJZiRuG-BBjKkkcBnn_v1Wbl2inRsdgqfQvdYHghiwV3iju2A0dmMWkcR8yyrRA-qetCTr4lKe9trI65INFv61OHeAQ7O6rX2o8aa20GJgs1V3_YdGONW/s320/Collage+2016-03-05+21_00_37.jpg" width="197" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had a fab time helping eight lovely ladies to create their own pieces of needle-felted and hand-embroidered work. They all said they enjoyed themselves and, even with the same basic materials, all created entirely different pieces of work. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIvGUblQwsBZHQsKf1FkeA1c2Bnl2zQLd4_bsIqV8nxTZQA1U_tc9eU7d81dvJQGy2M_CE3Sf3WxmjGgyozM6q4TnHzeTNniwE8NuZxUzMsKep-K_uvfruI3AXar6Bxt_3SR0lgKsaENTQ/s1600/20160305_203327.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="199" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIvGUblQwsBZHQsKf1FkeA1c2Bnl2zQLd4_bsIqV8nxTZQA1U_tc9eU7d81dvJQGy2M_CE3Sf3WxmjGgyozM6q4TnHzeTNniwE8NuZxUzMsKep-K_uvfruI3AXar6Bxt_3SR0lgKsaENTQ/s320/20160305_203327.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Then, of course, it was Mothers Day on Sunday. Here's the card I rustled up for mum (Twiglet) from my lovely bag of fabric and lace scraps. The colours coordinate well with the flowers I gave her to say thanks for being such a fab mum.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIPK3YbtV5HQkXVdGI347ktGAMnjns7_8hCI-96fBFf3yh207L0mC-zdpbF_EgzkmGteLQ5iWEcFTmIYzrkv_oCUlQuguWae5dyKDpIgkqOBFxBkp_HKwG50xnEzexehTFpGJn3VWW5h_g/s1600/20160305_175405.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIPK3YbtV5HQkXVdGI347ktGAMnjns7_8hCI-96fBFf3yh207L0mC-zdpbF_EgzkmGteLQ5iWEcFTmIYzrkv_oCUlQuguWae5dyKDpIgkqOBFxBkp_HKwG50xnEzexehTFpGJn3VWW5h_g/s320/20160305_175405.png" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
And I wasn't disappointed this Mothers Day either. I had chocs and bubbly, a lovely walk in the Quarry (Shrewsbury's town park) and a delicious tapas lunch at Casa Naranjo.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I think the waitresses were in shock as Ben worked his way through olives, garlic prawns, meatballs, croquettas, chicken skewers, patatas bravas and pork tenderloin.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
There's not much my boy doesn't eat and he always makes me proud in restaurants - though I need to have a word with him about the number of kisses he was blowing at the waitresses!!<br />
<br />
That's all for today - rather a long post with all the events of the past week! Thanks for stopping by. If this is your first visit to me, hop on over to Julia's Stamping Ground where you'll find loads of other artists and crafters sharing their workdesk activities.<br />
<br />
See you again soon!<br />
<br />
Happy crafting,<br />

It's a wild, wet and windy 'What's on your Workdesk Wednesday' today at Tilly Tea Dance Towers so we're keeping cosy in our living room. So today's workdesk photo is actually not the workdesk at all but my footstool!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So on my workdesk today you can see a small herd of 'dumflings', my little needle-felted and embroidered squares. I've had an order for a set of four so I've been busy making a good selection for my customer to choose from.<br />

<br />
It's been a hectic week already and it's only Wednesday. I've been putting together the last bits and bobs for my workshop on Saturday where I'll get to share my love of needle felting and embroidery with eight lovely ladies. Will let you know how we all got on next WOYWW.<br />
<br />
In between this I've been over to Connections in Pontesbury to set up my new display of my work. Connections has a lovely Local Artists department and I'm chuffed they wanted me to be part of it!<br />

So that's it from me for this week. Thanks for stopping by my workdesk.<br />

<br />
It's Wednesday so that means I'm sharing a shot of my workdesk to mark 'What's on your Workdesk Wednesday'.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwwNd4_bkpunV4ZpvzjqK7vTQOYKdJ7eo_3qbinaL11sutsoj2Ee5ogEnIOmdsPNSTVt6VrmMX7Qt7fgaqa23mzxMcdh8fxT4HzjSGc50E32aV5dsqUnQQdXoYsDHAlyFfNGzrjEKRn8qR/s1600/20160224_135859.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwwNd4_bkpunV4ZpvzjqK7vTQOYKdJ7eo_3qbinaL11sutsoj2Ee5ogEnIOmdsPNSTVt6VrmMX7Qt7fgaqa23mzxMcdh8fxT4HzjSGc50E32aV5dsqUnQQdXoYsDHAlyFfNGzrjEKRn8qR/s320/20160224_135859.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This week we've been dyeing some wool in preparation for my forthcoming workshop.<br />
<br />
Between us, Twiglet and I have got lots of gorgeous wool but I needed green and what we had was white, cream, beige, baby pink and turquoise. We used a microwave dye and it has produced loads of different shades of green (not quite 'fifty shades of green', but a lot!).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg2UKr1S6ffcIVE9Mddbtiotxu-DhNnEOKi3ByM4esy6FqEvFPmCxAz70WJYryBkcmSqiPcYGbxiT5soz1kL266OqKvCkuh7odjoDbs8J8rKyZKMOmEDd_sYzg4jM0QZPQeCK-Gxo4u-61/s1600/20160224_113601.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg2UKr1S6ffcIVE9Mddbtiotxu-DhNnEOKi3ByM4esy6FqEvFPmCxAz70WJYryBkcmSqiPcYGbxiT5soz1kL266OqKvCkuh7odjoDbs8J8rKyZKMOmEDd_sYzg4jM0QZPQeCK-Gxo4u-61/s320/20160224_113601.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
Also on my desk this week are some unfinished sheepy bookmarks I've been working on during the cold dark nights.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDPluGIkYF5Ub5QuRT6UHzWgHNSOV10hJbhJLT4Zy0vkuUg0-YAPzteAA1M4yeEjwIlbUBMC0ovEAS5qV_G9GeuaY2ygkqO4qi-tpJ9_v1sPnulE5B_qd4QpmIJ144XaXhqzL9N8WPx-Oq/s1600/20160224_123514.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDPluGIkYF5Ub5QuRT6UHzWgHNSOV10hJbhJLT4Zy0vkuUg0-YAPzteAA1M4yeEjwIlbUBMC0ovEAS5qV_G9GeuaY2ygkqO4qi-tpJ9_v1sPnulE5B_qd4QpmIJ144XaXhqzL9N8WPx-Oq/s320/20160224_123514.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Finally I just thought I'd share a little pic of Ben finding an alternative use for nanny's cotton reels!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0tAANL2qZeM_Zsj43EaA0y5eQldFOiN6-jbUXkTZLiQzVHkpgvYFGkzrDQJg2aA7kefONqL-plfmRlGQCPv4v4nFXHiIbcCU7fKM_hhe7jF0ibGhiVnGoJRS_ZMSGaMVKyH6BOCvzwSjF/s1600/Collage+2016-02-23+22_03_54.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0tAANL2qZeM_Zsj43EaA0y5eQldFOiN6-jbUXkTZLiQzVHkpgvYFGkzrDQJg2aA7kefONqL-plfmRlGQCPv4v4nFXHiIbcCU7fKM_hhe7jF0ibGhiVnGoJRS_ZMSGaMVKyH6BOCvzwSjF/s320/Collage+2016-02-23+22_03_54.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
He's got a lot of concentration and good hand eye coordination so this sort of activity keeps him entertained for a fair while!<br />
<br />
Short and sweet today! Thanks for stopping by. Have a good week!<br />
<br />
Happy crafting<br />

What's on my workdesk today you ask? Well, actually <i>I</i> am!</div>

<br />
This week I needed some good photos to sent out with the <a href="http://www.loveshrewsbury.com/contrib/chance-skill-art-workshops" target="_blank">press release</a> about my forthcoming workshop. With a photographer for a <a href="http://marchesdigital.co.uk/" target="_blank">Dad</a> what else does a girl do but jump up on the workdesk and pose for a few pics!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcqsd_Kgj0bNigyg1HWxhdRJqujeEHTjAZpEhgHEpBXjBAIzKf3P3rokPPr7AMjimIT0oMSevZnMCmC5B6YFOTneUerbtlE3Wry4xl9M0bh68BfMOcat47RTq3BJwFEFSv_txWAHHzaNo4/s1600/Maxine+Smith+1+web+version.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcqsd_Kgj0bNigyg1HWxhdRJqujeEHTjAZpEhgHEpBXjBAIzKf3P3rokPPr7AMjimIT0oMSevZnMCmC5B6YFOTneUerbtlE3Wry4xl9M0bh68BfMOcat47RTq3BJwFEFSv_txWAHHzaNo4/s320/Maxine+Smith+1+web+version.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />Today I'm playing around with some new ideas. With Mother's day and World Book Day both round the corner I felt like making some book marks. Here's a quick peek at the trial run I'm part way through felting. When completed it will probably have a sheep or two on it and a little hand embroidery in the foreground...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLtR4x0VfhQ0dgbpugbvXzzj00N7FmlU5qG-zNuSsCmYjiu2fXVb8cqjVTkLmHhVBJ4NOy3fVO2g-8gBF4uLrF22CWn-6R9ExLjP9qsnO2yPiqtdd0VaOgqFueS7j4Q9gqQ7_GO4l36u7h/s1600/20160217_144204.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLtR4x0VfhQ0dgbpugbvXzzj00N7FmlU5qG-zNuSsCmYjiu2fXVb8cqjVTkLmHhVBJ4NOy3fVO2g-8gBF4uLrF22CWn-6R9ExLjP9qsnO2yPiqtdd0VaOgqFueS7j4Q9gqQ7_GO4l36u7h/s320/20160217_144204.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
That's all the needle-felting action from my desk today as I've spent most of the week editing the photos I've taken for my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/tillyteadance?ref=profile_shopicon" target="_blank">shop</a>. I was permitted to use Dad's photography studio and given a bit of a tutorial so these look a bit more professional than most of my snaps!<br />

Thanks for dropping in to read about what I've got going on at my workdesk today.<br />
<br />
Today my desk is covered in my needle-felting stuff...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9LLddU_2avHaH9eqFWf19H3hOGDH2xZqTuvN_NmAaxlxeQlZGK006ivgztwmWI2YIlYrB-9dUyj384VTKuuWDa7zN-SwG_A4VjauIhkPek4zpI2HLYiOJX6ED3TQ3q-Xu9XjR-p0L-eSN/s1600/20160210_081313.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9LLddU_2avHaH9eqFWf19H3hOGDH2xZqTuvN_NmAaxlxeQlZGK006ivgztwmWI2YIlYrB-9dUyj384VTKuuWDa7zN-SwG_A4VjauIhkPek4zpI2HLYiOJX6ED3TQ3q-Xu9XjR-p0L-eSN/s320/20160210_081313.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Everything's gone a bit sheep-crazy this week. After posting my needle-felted sheep sunset picture on <a href="https://twitter.com/tillyteadance?s=02" target="_blank">Twitter</a> and <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Tillyteadance/" target="_blank">Facebook</a>, I've had several orders so I've been busy making these up. Who knew sheep were so popular?!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This week my friend turned thirty so I rustled up a little 30th birthday card...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOUHxQdqaCD4mvGISrC3TvDY2TnE_XT9SHBVHHn7GjkW3wEUPAQn5aybjLaab-Nqh_x9gXNmz5wVRXzwmyKYvSnK0EeJxvQp5hyGCHNrOSF3b5-B4xJb0Cbq9FuWAodA6gn7TwqXxwCWIY/s1600/IMG_2136.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="246" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOUHxQdqaCD4mvGISrC3TvDY2TnE_XT9SHBVHHn7GjkW3wEUPAQn5aybjLaab-Nqh_x9gXNmz5wVRXzwmyKYvSnK0EeJxvQp5hyGCHNrOSF3b5-B4xJb0Cbq9FuWAodA6gn7TwqXxwCWIY/s320/IMG_2136.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
(forgive me for the attempted 'arty' photo - I'm trying out a new camera but I'm totally hopeless with it! You'd never think I was the daughter of a photographer!!)<br /><br />
Regular readers may know I've had difficulty sourcing suitable frames for my needle-felted pictures, which are slightly 3D and look squashed in an ordinary frame. Hurrah, at last I've found a great supply of shallow box frames that suit my pictures perfectly so I've been busy mounting my work this week.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Finally, I've been preparing for my forthcoming workshop on 5th March in Shrewsbury, an opportunity to needle-felt little garden scenes like mine. I have a couple of places left, so if you fancy joining me, <a href="https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/textile-art-workshop-magical-gardens-in-needle-felting-and-embroidery-tickets-20955367067" target="_blank">click here</a>.<br />

<br />
This morning my desk is covered in goodies I purchased on a little day out yesterday with <a href="http://twiglet5.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Twiglet</a> and Ben.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0B8s7SxhOXxUDqO44Shoq29Nuh3heN4Rc9XYe1Z9q-LclC-0KZnmIK4uI-jIRQ1UHC52_VyeWIRU_YcAQNA7q4mIj8FXtAc4BAovS9f7pA92P3XQwySY_CCY4wPcXqnxQfusAX3bsigT4/s1600/20160127_083435.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0B8s7SxhOXxUDqO44Shoq29Nuh3heN4Rc9XYe1Z9q-LclC-0KZnmIK4uI-jIRQ1UHC52_VyeWIRU_YcAQNA7q4mIj8FXtAc4BAovS9f7pA92P3XQwySY_CCY4wPcXqnxQfusAX3bsigT4/s400/20160127_083435.png" width="400" /></a></div>

<br />
You can also see a large pile of frames which are to mount all of those <a href="http://tillyteadance.blogspot.co.uk/2015/12/woyww-dumfling-breeding-programme.html" target="_blank">dumflings</a> I made a few weeks ago.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
I'm excited to say my work is about to go on sale at the <a href="http://www.shropshirehillsdiscoverycentre.co.uk/" target="_blank">Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre</a>, which has a fab exhibition space for local artists. I've been mounting work ready to display and making more sheepy pictures which really represent the Shropshire Hills theme.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYtdysr5Pq2erA3r7TM1JYAlrZPDz2dhOxNnH5OgcMkfA04hN-uVERomZlFa_ps4FaUk0yjvVZWGyJ8rWKsJjcueofafOPL6F-t4ERGYX7W8VFh1XFP52lt8I0XOK5bMbORp9K5CDzUHuW/s1600/20160127_084122.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYtdysr5Pq2erA3r7TM1JYAlrZPDz2dhOxNnH5OgcMkfA04hN-uVERomZlFa_ps4FaUk0yjvVZWGyJ8rWKsJjcueofafOPL6F-t4ERGYX7W8VFh1XFP52lt8I0XOK5bMbORp9K5CDzUHuW/s320/20160127_084122.png" width="197" /></a></div>
<br />
I've also been busy this week preparing for my first <a href="http://tillyteadance.blogspot.co.uk/p/blog-page.html" target="_blank">workshop</a> of 2016. Here's a shameless plug...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Finally I've been busy chasing a toddler round again now that Ben has had his plastercast taken off his leg. Other than a slight limp you'd never know he'd fractured it less than 3 weeks ago!<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by to read my blog. If you've enjoyed reading about my workdesk, why not check out my gallery, workshops page and shop! And don't forget to hop on over to the <a href="http://stamping-ground.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Stamping Ground</a> to meet dozens of other crafters busy at their workdesks!<br />

<br />
I took a brief sabatical last week to look after a toddler with a leg in plaster (more about that later) so didn't manage much sewing.<br />
<br />
Here's my workdesk this morning. A bit of everything - a customer order, some mounting and some new background pieces to needle-felt later.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6c5QxgEd-YHz1vfszsoIeDD_DTAbConujr8cr0sX3Qonr-JxTjH7TMRt-y80z7Mg47D5s-wbCXvdxoyXe7aSQrTllDGx2YdMvcEg-jiaiWp8LLWZLiR4jHor-fBQGmOc4IW-gI5VJOqpz/s1600/20160120_085402.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6c5QxgEd-YHz1vfszsoIeDD_DTAbConujr8cr0sX3Qonr-JxTjH7TMRt-y80z7Mg47D5s-wbCXvdxoyXe7aSQrTllDGx2YdMvcEg-jiaiWp8LLWZLiR4jHor-fBQGmOc4IW-gI5VJOqpz/s320/20160120_085402.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
You can see a large piece of wet felting that I made yesterday as a background for a larger sheepy picture I've planned, inspired by the Shropshire Hills.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ0tcUgCl_GSOkLXSf-xTPfjepv9mxu4Zgk8zNWsC3H5AEGV2F9dMr5F-kqkSzJDHQyM8L5k0pIojUtsiKM4CQAbb2Ynva8zWr_WTWmkbmja7JGSW5lcJUueuGeQ6S0xKUwUmqVqdqYzoy/s1600/20160120_092502.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="287" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ0tcUgCl_GSOkLXSf-xTPfjepv9mxu4Zgk8zNWsC3H5AEGV2F9dMr5F-kqkSzJDHQyM8L5k0pIojUtsiKM4CQAbb2Ynva8zWr_WTWmkbmja7JGSW5lcJUueuGeQ6S0xKUwUmqVqdqYzoy/s320/20160120_092502.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
If you're not familiar with the process of wet felting, essentially it involves layering pieces of wool roving (dyed sheep fluff) loosely on a piece of bubble wrap, squirting it with liquid soap, trapping it between net and another piece of bubble wrap, rolling it round a rolling pin wrapped in a bamboo roller blind and rubbing vigorously. The picture below might give you some idea of this...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0Z2eYolhfRzraK28boJRmmXKFVY3PxqCzj4PDikawx41bXfWO8LK5TUaS4Mvira5eKp4fZRtTONBSIdZCVmtDuDo2i8di_qcTqQRd_A1pYMBbMqQ4YXPjmoWVsv9QgRpVtL48-26WeqDE/s1600/Collage+2016-01-19+15_50_07.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0Z2eYolhfRzraK28boJRmmXKFVY3PxqCzj4PDikawx41bXfWO8LK5TUaS4Mvira5eKp4fZRtTONBSIdZCVmtDuDo2i8di_qcTqQRd_A1pYMBbMqQ4YXPjmoWVsv9QgRpVtL48-26WeqDE/s400/Collage+2016-01-19+15_50_07.jpg" width="246" /></a></div>
<br />
It's quite a spectator sport...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbaqkYP_iGxfHKCHgSiTcctFIkumSR_IUxHzBkc4WVF_rvEetDNy8L0Cwd475er6q6F-Um3DI-ppB3GdBSaRTdUZAPj8tfO8pS7Rc-dZT3YaAi-dHoy2Rco7v8pelVOq48FaL-LmNShh3m/s1600/20160119_155623.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="186" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbaqkYP_iGxfHKCHgSiTcctFIkumSR_IUxHzBkc4WVF_rvEetDNy8L0Cwd475er6q6F-Um3DI-ppB3GdBSaRTdUZAPj8tfO8pS7Rc-dZT3YaAi-dHoy2Rco7v8pelVOq48FaL-LmNShh3m/s320/20160119_155623.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
My customer order is yet another <a href="http://tillyteadance.blogspot.co.uk/p/commissions.html" target="_blank">personalised picture</a> - this time for a lovely little girl called Ligeia. Ligeia loves lions and I thoroughly enjoyed designing this little lion for her picture. Here's a sneak peek and I'll share the whole picture at a later date.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdPTktR7QNTXepy6P2TXn6gHfVq6x8zsGOqcjjiCrpN-nJM3m4uDeBVyQEVhjUFjVMivuaGFvZpCQyXvzAqCXxyly79aCN5Cgyd4BlreZizPs1CP4dN0_RpZzg-RS4Q26XYUvcLS0c56n9/s1600/Collage+2016-01-19+14_25_59.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdPTktR7QNTXepy6P2TXn6gHfVq6x8zsGOqcjjiCrpN-nJM3m4uDeBVyQEVhjUFjVMivuaGFvZpCQyXvzAqCXxyly79aCN5Cgyd4BlreZizPs1CP4dN0_RpZzg-RS4Q26XYUvcLS0c56n9/s320/Collage+2016-01-19+14_25_59.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
My last share is a picture of my little man who fractured his leg just over a week ago when he tripped over kicking a balloon. He's been a very brave boy adapting to his plaster cast well (though thankfully it will be taken off next week).<br />
